Topic: HEARKEN UNTO HIS VOICE!
Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” (Hebrews 3:15)
Paul the inspired writer penned this epistle to admonish the Hebrews at that time on the consequences of not heeding to God’s voice. It occurred shortly after the Israelites had come through the Red Sea and had journeyed only a week or two into the wilderness beyond. They came to a place where there was no water, and they all became thirsty. They had barely had time to become very thirsty when the leaders of the people came to Moses and began to complain. What are you doing? Leading us out into this wilderness to perish? Where is this God that is supposed to be taking care of us? Why hasn’t He provided water for us? They demanded that God prove Himself again. Scripture says; “They rebelled against the leadership of Moses”. (Numbers 16)
Nevertheless, the inspired writer wrote this to admonish us; “Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” There are many voices in the world but, none is without significance. The voice of God is the voice of direction and path way to greatness. The writer of Proverbs expresses this reality; “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil” Proverbs 3:5-7. Stay tuned for more on this topic.
